5 But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.”
6 So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So, he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float. 7 Therefore he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So, he reached out his hand and took it.
Now, those verses reminded me of my lost textbook. I was a freshman in college; very naïve. Before entering the cafeteria at this college, you were to put your backpacks, etc. in open-shelved compartments that stretched across a long wall in the entry. Everyone did it; so, I placed my textbook in an empty space. After lunch, yep, that book was gone.
I did not have a way to replace that book; but the story about the iron axe head miraculously floating to the top, came into my mind. Inspired, I prayed, “Lord, if you can find a lost axe head and make it rise to the top, then you can find my lost textbook in this maze of compartments.” I figured this was something God was very good at … you know, finding the lost. I immediately walked to an area completely away from where I had placed it. And what did I see? A textbook that was identical to my lost one. I picked it up, opened the first page … and there was my name. The lost was found.
