God Knows Where We Live

There is an entire story that precedes this, but for now I will just lean into this miraculous moment where God spoke very plainly to me.

Suffice it to say that I had just endured an extreme trial, and a deliverance. The very night that the deliverance was settled, I was extremely exhausted, in an unknown dwelling (new to me), and quite focused on my own situation. I was going to crawl into bed for much needed rest … And then, God spoke.

“Write a letter to Rusty and tell her how much I love her.”

Rusty was an old neighbor who had been a friend of my mother’s. I really only remembered her name because it was so unusual. I had not thought of her for at least 25 years.

“Yes, Lord, I will tomorrow.”

Strongly the Lord said, “Get out of bed and write it tonight. Send her a cassette of your music.”

Exhausted, I crawled out of bed and actually used the situation as a start to the letter – “I don’t know what you are going through, but God will not let me go to bed until I write you this letter to tell you how much He loves you. The music is for you to listen to and I hope you are blessed by it.”

I signed the letter and thought okay I am going to crawl into bed.

“Do not go to bed until you ready it for mailing.”

I thought to myself, well, this will prove if it is God or not because I have no idea what the address is. “Lord if you want me to mail this to her You will have to tell me what the address is, because I don’t remember it.”

Immediately that address popped into my head. It had been years and years since I had lived in the house that had been near her property. I had been 13 years old when I had moved from that address and had only lived there for 4 years.

I knew it was the address when I heard it and was quite shocked by the revelation. I prepared the package and letter for mailing and promised God that I would mail it promptly in the morning – which I did.

Six months had passed and I decided to drive the 4.5 hours from where I was to visit my mother.

While we were visiting my mother said, “The strangest thing happened! I decided to take myself out to breakfast and was enjoying a cup of coffee when Rusty, who I haven’t seen for years, approached me from another table. She sat down and started to cry and I had no idea what she was crying about. When she got control of herself, she told me that she had received a package from you.”

It was only then that I remembered even sending Rusty that package! I immediately started praying, wondering how that whole situation had turned out.

“What happened?!”

“She told me that the very day that she had received your package, she had full intention of committing suicide! She told me that your package changed everything for her! WHAT did you send her?!”

I told my mom about the incident, how God had spoken to me, and how He would not let me go to bed until I had obeyed Him.

That story had far-reaching results when years later another miraculous event transpired regarding the daughter of Rusty. Let me just say this, God knows where we live!
