It Can Turn on a Dime
This story took place many years ago to my friend when she was a college student. She was at the laundromat doing her laundry and was almost finished but realized that her last load in the dryer would need one more drying. She needed a dime. She didn’t have one. So, she went outside and leaned against her car and prayed for one small dime. Another patron from the laundromat was putting her clean clothes into her car; they exchanged smiles. And then the patron left. Under her now exited car was an empty parking space … and a thin, silver dime.
Just One Dollar
I never had enough money to pay the bills, so every month I would pray over each bill and God always moved on someone’s heart to furnish the need. This particular month I had laid the bill before God and two people had sent me separate cards with money in them … but I was one dollar short. “Oh, Lord, please, I’m just one dollar short.” The following day a letter arrived in the mail from my mother. Her words, “It’s all that I had in my pocket, but thought it might make a difference.” What was it? One dollar.
God could send thousands. He could send millions. But when someone asks for one dime … or one dollar, He provides it. And the gift is huge, because it not only supplies the need, it lets the one praying know that the God of the Universe has listened specifically to them. And that is immense!
His Word says, “…I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.” Ezekiel 11:5
