The Canaanite woman, who was not considered a follower of Christ, knew in her heart that Jesus was the One who could release her daughter of demon possession. She most likely had heard about His extraordinary power to heal. Even when Jesus said to her that it wasn’t right to take bread from the children’s table and give it to the dogs, she managed to maintain her wee faith and responded, That is the truth, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table. She believed that one morsel of bread from God’s table, even in its tiniest measure, was enough to bring down the worst stronghold that she was facing. In the face of what seemed like impossible hope and thinking that perhaps God was prejudiced against her for being a Canaanite, she still held tight to her belief. The LORD called it GREAT faith! And that very hour her daughter was freed and that mother’s faith rewarded. The story made its way into the Word of God to forever bring hope to the child of faith who remains strong and courageous, even when the odds are stacked against them.
